It would have to be better than The O.A.S.I.S. from Ready Player One/Ready Player Two, and still offer the same experience as it does, and then some.
It would also need to have visual clarity on par with the human eye, where you cannot distinguish between the digital and the analogue.
I believe this was the purpose of a Magic Leap device when Rony Abovitz was at the helm of the company from 2011 - 2020.
Rony is the Founder, (Former) C.E.O., and (Former) President of the company.
Magic Leap was invented/created for a project called "The Hour Blue".
Per "The Hour Blue World" Website:
www.hourblueworld.com/You can also find this information on the Sun and Thunder website:
www.sunandthunderstudio.com/Specifically on this page:
www.sunandthunderstudio.com/hour-blue But to really understand it I suggest you read this page:
www.sunandthunderstudio.com/xversesThe Hour Blue World is Rony's pet project that he created Magic Leap (both the product and the company) specifically for.
It's actually a series of other projects being worked by Rony at his new venture, which is called Sun and Thunder, He calls these projects "Storyworlds", which are world building projects.
There is also another venture that Rony currently helms, described as such:
www.synthbee.com/All of these things will become part of a larger whole called Xverses. I guess you could call that Rony's vision of what he wants The Metaverse to become like.
You can find this definition for The Metaverse on an old Wikipedia entry, but it's only available on a previous version, labeled "Metaverse".
web.archive.org/web/20190228043249/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetaverseThere is also a newer revision where the term is defined as follows:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetaverseA lot of these terms are interchangeable with each other and in order for a lot of this to take off and become a successful future iteration of the internet, and totally upend the way we all work, live, and play it needs to:
a. Be socially acceptable (Form Factor needs to be small, glasses, et cetera.)
b. Have decent battery life (e.g. all day everyday)
c. Be compelling, engaging, capture the attention of the wearer/user by telling great stories, and ultimately allow the person wearing the device fall in love with Spatial Computing.
Graeme Devine can be quoted as saying 2 very important things:
1. "MIXED REALITY = is the mixture REAL WORLD & VIRTUAL WORLDS SO that ONE understands the OTHER. THIS CREATES EXPERIENCES -that cannot possibly happen. ANYWHERE ELSE." Graeme Devine, Magic Leap.
2. There are 4 pillars of Mixed Reality/Spatial Computing, and according to Graeme Devine they are:
- Games
- Media
- Communication
- Information
Anyway I tried to cover most of the stuff I know a bit about.
Let me know your thoughts, and let me know if you have any questions.
